Cars and Work

So the car dealership never called back so I think we are a no go on the car. I guess we keep looking. I didn't want no stinkin mini-van anyways.

The rest of my coworkers who got laid off had a going away lunch. In a typical show of maturity, they went to my former supervisor and stated that if I went, they would not go. What did I do to deserve this you ask, nothing it turns out. The problems started when three of them had convinced themselves that I would be the first one laid off since I was gone on maternity leave so long. Forget the fact that I had an advanced degree and several years experiance on these people. Well, they got laid off in the first round, but I didn't. Then they turned real mature with all sorts of whispering, rumor-mongering, we are going to lunch but you are not invited, ect. This is dumb because upper management sees a lot more than they think. Through the whole thing, I kept my cool and was very professional. Yeah for me. Well when my turn to get laid off came around, I asked for an accelerated layoff so I could be home with the babies. I assumed that I would stop getting paid and get my severance package. However, management made a decision to go ahead and pay me for the 60 days and give me my severance package. Well a certain assistant leaked this to one of the girls I worked with and now they are all bent out of shape about that. I have two words for these women "Grow Up!" Get a life and act your age! And be glad some of us are capable of being mature or else your life could have been as awful as you made mine.

Sorry for the rant, but I needed to get it off of my chest.

Easter Weekend

Well we finally broke down and went car shopping. I had a cute, sporty litle Hyundai Santa Fe, but if only seats five and we are now a family of six. It really didn't even seat 5 well considering 4 of them were in car seats. Jake and I have been having a mini-van/SUV debate. Jake already drives a mini van and loves it, I hate them and didn't want one, I wanted a bigger SUV. I know that vans are cheaper, more storage, more comfortable, ect, but they just don't look cool! =) So we had finally decided to go look at both and see what was in our price range and go from there.

Well, there were pretty much no SUV's that were in our price range. So onto vans. We finally found one that I think I could live with driving. It is a Buick Terraza. It is a "luxury" mini van. It has all leathers seats with Captain chairs in the second row, climate control, premium sound, DVD, CD, automatic doors that open with the push of a button, a lots of bells and whistles. It also has a lot more powerful engine than my Santa Fe so that will be nice. We gave an offer on it which was accepted so we will just have to wait and see about financing. The banks were closed when we made our offer so we just have to wait on the dealer to call us back.

Sunday we went to church. Every year our church has Easter services at the high school in Mulvane. There is always a lot of visitors so our church really tries to show what we can offer these families. There are activities for kids of all ages, the choir sings a big number, and our pastor wows as usual. This year we had several people meet Jesus for the first time so it was really awesome. Plus everyone looked great. Mina and my mother in law looked very pretty in white and light green. Noah and Jamie were so handsome in their sweater vests. Linda's dress was beautiful and Jake looked hot in a shirt and tie.

After church we had our friend Mike and my cousin over for dinner. I made my first ham ever! It was not bad. Jake and Mike ate a ton and even Linda had seconds. I would say it was a sucess.

Busy Week

Wow, it is Holy week again and here we go. I sing in the church choir so I have choir rehearsal twice this week, counseling, my birthday, church Wednesday through Sunday, and then Easter Sunday. It is also my neices birthday, but the party is the same time as the dress rehearsal for the Easter service so I have to miss it. I thought life would slow down now that I am not working. In case you haven't heard, I got laid off a few weeks ago. It is actually a good thing. I had felt convicted to stay home but just couldn't make myself quit such a high paying job, so for days I prayed that if I was meant to be home, that God would take it out of my hands. A few days later I got my lay off notice. I asked for the accelerated lay off so I could be home with the babies, and my director agreed after my managers spoke to him. Linda's counselor had actually said Linda would make more progress if I was home, so here I am. Between our tax return and the severence pay I think we will be fine.

Mina and Noah go for their 4 month appointment and shots this week. I am a little concerned because Mina seems to be behind Noah in a lot of areas. He is babbling and she does not do it as much, he sits better, he stands better, I know they are two different babies, but I am anxious to be reassured by their doctor. In other news, we paid to have our washer and dryer moved upstairs so I am finally able to keep up with laundry without having to hike all the way to the back of the basement. And on that note, there goes the dryer...
